Pandemic of White Supremacist’s Infiltration into Police Departments is lethal to Black and Brown Bodies

Ian Hans Lichtermann is the Philadelphia cop being outed as a white supremacist.

A 2019 investigation found that hundreds of police officers were members of White supremacists hate groups on social media — where they regularly posted racist and anti-Semitic content — including Confederate and anti-governmental groups (Carless and Corey 2019).

Evidence of significant White Supremacist’s penetration into police departments Across the country is well cataloged. According to federal investigators, by 2015, the problem had reached epidemic proportions. That year, there was three times the number of killings by police than in 2014 or prior. This despite a drop in violent crime. Warnings of this mass infiltration from both the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security were first attacked and then ignored by the United States Senate.

In 2006, the FBI issued a report describing patterns of significant infiltration of police departments across the country by white supremacist groups, including the KKK, Neo-Nazis, and others. The report concluded that this mass infiltration into the police ranks presented a grave domestic terror threat to the U.S. The FBI could not have been more spot-on in its risk assessment.

Domestic Terrorism is defined as Violent actions and plots intended for a domestic target, to instill fear and further ideological goals- think KKK of the twenties and thirties wearing police uniforms and acting as an arm of the State.

In 2015- despite a large decline in gun violence — there was an alarming increase in police killings in general and of Blacks and Hispanics in particular. The number of Killings by Police Tripled in one year and has remained steady since.

White supremacy in Policing is lethal to Black bodies.

It is not a coincidence that this precipitous rise in police killings directly corresponds to increased hate groups’ infiltration into police departments across the country. This problem has been documented in separate investigations conducted by the FBI, the United States Department of Homeland Security, and, most recently, in a June 2020 report issued by The ACLU.
